Looks like he has been renamed. Here is the new name with the parents, Janet: Rhynchovola David Sander (Brassavola cucullata x Rhyncholaelia digbyana)

If it does, I am not aware of them. I grow it in high cattleya light in the cooler end of my greenhouse. It gets fed and watered on the same schedule as the regular cattleyas.

Thanks for all the nice comments.

    Cheers,
    BD

It's gorgeous. I've had mine for 6 years and haven't gotten a bloom yet.

Can you increase the light it is getting? I am growing this one in the top of the greenhouse with the standard cattleyas. It gets very bright light. I suspect yours just needs more light to bloom if indeed it is mature enough to bloom.

    Good luck with yours!

    Cheers,
    BD

Thanks, Bruce. Right now it is under T12s, so you are probably right. I've been shopping around for T5s for about 3 weeks now, but there are so many brands and prices that I'm not sure which ones to buy. Any suggestions?

I have never grown under lights, Minda. I bet someone else can help. Also, be sure to read in the forum on lighting and accessories here in OrchidTalk. I know many of the growers here do grow under lights. Rita (Redhead59) grows vandas in her basement under some type of lights and they bloom well for her. Maybe send her a pm and ask what she would recommend? This orchid should bloom in vanda light easy.

    Cheers,
    BD

Just reviving this thread because one of these has just arrived for me from Malaysia. (Smug grin). I've got rough requirements for it but it says 'lots of light'. Does that mean direct sunlight BD? Not mid-day sun surely?

Janet, it is B. cucullata x B. digbyana to answer your question a bit late. Previously called Rhynchovola DS.

    See I'm learning.

No, not direct sunlight, John. This one does take very bright light though. We grow it on the cool end of the greenhouse but hanging up high with the standard cattleyas, so very bright light is required to bloom it.

    Cheers,
    BD
