Very interesting - even the idea of Tricovanda is new to me, but then Vandas were hardly grown at all in Uk until fairly recently. When I decided to try them - maybe 1990 - having by then gone through all the major groups of orchids and tried them, and wanting something new, I found that only one hybrid was available from all the UK Orchid traders , and only two of them offered that one ( V rothschildianum of course) So I had to go to Thailand and buy direct from a couple of nurseries. Then I decided to buy some more, and to make a worthwhile order to be sent, rather than collected, I had several of each cross, and started selling the surplus. I'm no trader, so soon gave up , but the more enterprising UK traders suddenly realised they were missing out on something, and started offering them. But it's still just Vandas and Ascdas ( well, 99% of what they offer) so occasionally , when I can persuade my wife that she must visit Bangkok, Singapore and like places just once more in her life time , I get to another nursery visit and can pick up a few more interesting things. ( I have a nice Kagara in flower right now, and an Aeridovanda in bud...). Maybe I I can get another visit as that special holiday to celebrate my 80th, or can persuade Joyce that for her 85th she must go east again....

@ Dorsetman: Don't forget to include Malaysia in your itinerary when you come this way. It used to be 'Go west , young man' and now it's 'Look east' at least for orchids...Heheheh
By the way I think what you have blooming now is a Kagawara (Kgw). They are really pretty and very colourful. I have posted 2 of my kagawaras Kgw Kristie Low and Sri Perak.

I'll look them up - and yes I think you are right ( another example of my not checking the Botanical dictionary after typing a name ! ) Still you knew what I meant , and that's everything.
I was just thinking about that Kagawara and deciding to photogoraph it and post it -then realised that I had been thinking about it for a long time - it's 3 am ... so I got up had a cup of some supposedly calming herbal tea, read my e-mail - and will now go back to bed....

Phil , I cant answer that, I also didn't like it really headache after many years you remember the hybrids name then suddenly they change. Nothing much that we can do.
