    Cool Pot Edwin Arthur Hauserman

This monster just plain takes my breath away. When I think of an orchid, this is the bloom that comes to mind. I always love to see and smell this cattleya. I looked in Orchidwiz and the name Edwin Hauserman is listed but no photo, I could not find Edwin Arthur Hauserman. This is one of our old orchids we were growing in Virginia in the early 90's. I hope I don't have the name wrong... Sorry the photos are not so clear. It was hanging up pretty high in the greenhouse when I took the photos.

Nearly 36 years ago Pot. Edwin Arthur Hausermann was one of the first 4 or 5 orchids I bought. Hausermann's definitely distributed it under that name so I'm sure that's what they meant to name it, and I have also seen it as Edwin A. Hausermann. Maybe the registration got bungled somwhere along the way. The parents listed for Edwin Hausermann by RHS and OrchidWiz are the ones I remember for Edwin Arthur Hausermann (Memoria Crispin Rosales x Kermit Hernlund).

Mine was an easy bloomer, slightly warmer color than yours but not quite as good form. Thanks for a bit of personal orchid nostalgia.

Thanks so much for the information. Using those names in the cross, I found where I posted this one before and guess had found the same information or just did not pay attention that Authur wasn't in the name when I posted before. I tagged all threads with "Pot Edwin Arthur Hausermann". So next time we bloom this guy, I will know his parents.

    Cheers,
    BD

Beautiful form and a fantastic lip, BD. Does 'monster' refer to the size of the flower or the size of the plant?

Beautiful! Reminds me of the lovely orchid corsage my Mother always wore for Easter and Mothers Day.

I am trying to stick with species, trying to conquer them first - but this makes me want to stray. Really nice Bruce - this is the kind of plant that the orchid industry was built on - can you imagine the corsage just one of these would have made?
