Here is another genus I'd love to try. I saw it at a nursery but was afraid to buy it because it was costly and I'd hate to kill it! So I guess the picture will have to do.

It is a beautiful orchid. Have you ever grown a cattleya orchid? IF you can keep paphs alive, I bet you can grow a cattleya. Catts need more light to bloom than paphs, and they need to dry completely out between waterings. You should get a cheap cattleya and see how you do. Then if all goes well, go back and get this orchid! Cattleyas and Paphs are my favorites!!

    Cheers,
    BD

It is beautiful! I am giving cattleyas another go after killing them a few years back. There is a wide range of hybrid types...it seems to me that you just have to figure out what you can do with which types.....I was smarter this time around and picked things that were more naturally suited to my actual climate.

When I want to try different plants, I go to the "baggie baby" section at the local big box store. They carry smaller cattleya that I love to use on mounts. Don't give up on cattleya types yet, I agree with the above. There are so many with a variety of growing conditions.
The lovely plant above you photographed... Very nice one!

I'm not surprised this cattelya is a bit expensive because it is one of the cattelya 'classics'. Try cattelyas - they are one of the easiest most rewarding to grow and there are a lot of mini catts around too if you are inclined towards smaller plants or limited by space.

Lc Orglade's Grand is an old cross, if I remember correctly. It is a hybrid of Lc Mildred Rives x Lc Persepolis, both parents being large whites with red/purple lips.

    Always an attractive classic semi-alba.
I have also some plants from a cross one of my friends did some time ago.
Maybe I should post a image of one of my plants.

Thanks for your reply, I'll try to attach a photo of it. It didn't work. I get my buddy to upload it later.
