I love this latest one, Randy. It has better form and colour - a break from dominant slate colour of tessellata.

Interesting hybrid with a nice range of colors. Thanks for sharing. A small correction though: Mini Palmer is not a Vanda, it is registered as a Viraphandhuara, identified as a hybrid of 5 genera (Aer x Asctm x Neof x Rhy x V).

Randy, we do have a problem here. First of all we have to establish whether your plant is a V Mimi Palmer cross or a Viraphandhuara(Vpda) Mini Palmer cross. V Mimi Palmer is V Tan Chay Yan x V tessellata, while Vpda Mini Palmer is complex cross of 5 genera, like Kirk says. I have never seen Vpda Mini Palmer myself but from its parentage I would guess that it is a rather compact plant, unlike V Mimi Palmer, which is of 'normal' vanda size. There have been quite a number of crosses using V Mimi Palmer but also some tagged as with V Mini ( with 'n') Palmer. Has there been confusion between Mini andMimi Palmer, in this case? Sorry for contributing to more confusion. LOL

Thanks for the explanation Yew but still im confused. So what do you think mine is? and also my plant is definitely not compact. Also you said that V Mimi Palmer is a hybrid of V Tan Chay Yan x V tessellata, I think im seeing tessellata in my Vanda unless of course im wrong...

V Mimi Palmer is a normal size vanda. You are right; V Mimi Palmer has no hint of JvB or Tan Chay Yan or even semi/quarter-terete in the physical appearance of the plant, except that it is a bigger plant than tessellata. All the ones I have seen are slate coloured and even the crosses seem to carry this dominant colour. That is why I'm impressed with your second plant which seems to have broken away from this dominant colour. Btw I have 2 V Mimi Palmer x V Kultana Gold, gift plants from a friend. He has bloomed a few and wasn't immpressed with them.

Yes, Viraphandhuara is the current and only genus Mini Palmer has ever been known by. Only 3 registered hybrids.
