Cool Rth Orange Nuggett 'Kadoaka' x Cattleya Stacy Miyamoto 'Pokai'

The orange colored orchids are in full swing in our greenhouse. I took some snapshots today after watering in there and a few turned out. This orchid cross has yet to be named, but it was very showy. I have divided the plant a couple of times and all three pots are in bloom. Uniquely, I find that some blooms appear more yellow and some more orange. I don't know if this orchid shifts color of if something else caused the shift.

I want! I must Have! Love it! The color is beautiful. Am going to an orchid show this weekend. With my birthday coming up someone is going to get off the hook of having to shop for a gift for me. I can just collect the orchids I want and they can take care of the paying. LOL

Bruce, you can really see the color shift from photo to photo. Very gorgeous specimens! How big do you usually allow them to get before you divide them?

I of course do not know what causes the color shifts in your three divisions either, but I think the variety of color is a plus don't you? It must be a colorful scene in your greenhouse right now. The sights and smells must be marvelous. AL

LOL. Usually when they grow out of their pots and I have to either repot or they die. I am terrible at keeping up with repotting. I have too many other jobs. When I retire, maybe my orchids will know what it is like to be well cared for all the time instead of their emergency room visits I make when I have the time.

    Cheers,
    BD

Usually seedlings that come from seed instead of mericlone will vary greatly from one individual to the others. I have seen this phenomena before in a group of hybrid phalaenopsis that come from identical bottles. They had eight variations both in pattern and the intensity of the color. Even the mericlone seedlings sometimes show variations due to chromosomic mutation during cell propagation...Maybe any biologist here could explain better than me coz I was too lazy to read biology textbook when I was at highschool...
