Do not overpot the plant - sacrifice a root first. But first, soak the root mass, they are much more pliable if you soak them. I would encourage roots in to the bark if possible. Delicately, as you say, is key.

Thanks for the suggestion about soaking the root mass to give it a little more flexibility. I wouldn't have thoughts of that. Also about the pot size versus roots dilemma...I get a painful twinge whenever I have to prune a plant or break a root, but I know that overpotting can be the kiss of death with many plants.

BTW...is Apple Blossom particularly variable in its flower colors? The photo of the plant that I have from the previous owner does not show the dark markings on the lip that your flower has. Mine, hopefully...if it ever flowers...is more subtly colored with a blush of pink around the edges of all the petals and lip.

Fingers crossed that this little orchid will actually bloom, one day.

I am now going to kick my own @#*$*$*#@! I was at a greenhouse closing sale and found a ton of plants on a shelf that were absolutely wonderful looking at three bucks a plant! It was this! I got none...I also didn't get a three dollar purpurata because I had been looking for a laelia not a cattleya. Damn those name changes...and my ignorance!
    Your blooms are lovely.

The genera was changed and so is the spelling of its name. The new name is Jackfowlieara (Jkf.) Apple blossom. Yes, there are many colour variations of this hybrid, there are yellow, yellowish orange, orange, beige, white with slight tinge of pink at the edge of sepals and petals, light pink. This is possible because one of the parents is Cll. Snowflake which is white and the other parent Rth. Orang Nugget is orange in colour. The plant shown by Connie has good shape.

That is just beeeeyooooooooootiful. That looks more like the photo of the plant that I have. I just hope it's as lovely as yours when (I say WHEN) it blooms. I see that you have several buds in the waiting, too. Nice!

I think the appleblossoms are just too pretty and end up nearly buying one on a regular basis. I also had to recently buy another Chantilly Lace. Mine had died from bugs a couple years ago and i've missed those fragrant constantly blooming babies. If I could only have one plant it would be one of these two. The Fangtastic is a cool variation I hadn't seen...if I had I would own one more than likely...lol. And thanks e1 on the comments. My one nursery always carries the nicest plants. I can go in there with the best of intentions and leave knowing the hubby is gonna flip...again. And good luck Jess...your plant should be lovely when it blooms. As I said...I don't think i've ever seen an "Appleblossom" I haven't liked.
