I showed another clone of this grex a month ago - Gordon Dillon Pink. I think that wa a "normal" tetraploid form , or 4n.
This one, I am sure has been subject to chromosome doubling , maybe making an octoploid. The flowers are a massive 14 cm ( the largest of them) and of tremendous substance ( thickness, waxiness). I have flowered several like this recently - Garnet Beauty, and so on . I'm not sure that I like them that much - the G.D "Pink" I showed last month has more natural beauty and grace - IMHO. But dealers don't as a rule, tell you what happened to the seeds on their way to the flask, .
Of course the plant is quite big in other respects too , new roots , when the plant grows strongly are nearly as thick as my little oinger ; the flower count looks likely to be 10 , if all the buds make it.And they do last a long time too - although all vandas do, more or less - I still have the species lamellata v boxallii in full flower , and not too badly faded , and that was out at Christmas !

The blooms look so huge they are crowding each other. Really nice. Got a shot of the entire plant? Must be large with that size blooms.

    Cheers,

Actually its not as large as some others which I think were similarly produced. Its hanging up in the roof again now, but I will try and remember to take a snap when I next do some photography . I am rushing around a bit today trying to get all the watering done as I'm off on a short walking holiday tomorrow ; so I will be quiet for a bit ( unless the hotel turns out to have WiFi, and I have a spare hour to switch oin my lap-top...)

    Cheers
