    Default Cattleya Walkeriana

A smaller plant only 9" - 10" tall, very fragrant. The blooms aren't perfect, they have a few blemishes. I look at this way, If I can get it to re-bloom. Hopefully those will look better than the ones today. This one is staying indoors, under lights. This one was only $10.00. I'm happy to have such a nice flea market near my home. I was waiting for a good time to speak to the vendor. Many people were asking me questions, I did answer some of the people about pricing. I kept telling everyone, that I didn't work there. It was sort of funny. Take Care, Rich

Could be very nice on the next flowering, unfortunately its NOT a pure walkeriana. Its probably C. Angel Walker.
    C. walkeriana & C. nobilior flower from separate shoots direct from the rhyzome, never the top of the pseudobulbs.

Good purchase, but will have to agree with Roy, doesn't look like a pure walkeriana.

I also agree, probably a hybrid. However, the C. walkeriana f. coerulea will flower from either the rhizome or top of the pseudobulb.

Actually, C. walkeriana 'alba' usually flowers from the top of the pseudobulb. The lavender types flower from a separate rhizome.

This is a lot different to the walkerianas here Steve. Haven't found anyone flowering the alba from the P/B top. Those that have are in the same position as the above plant, its a hybrid.

Just to muddy the waters further, most hardcore walkeriana collectors/breeders think that Cat. walkeriana 'Pendentive' AM/AOS (alba) and Cat. walkeriana 'Kenny' (semi-alba) are not pure walkeriana. One of the reasons is the way that they can bloom from the top of P/B or from a rhizome and are not always consistent.

Thanks for the info Susan. I didn't know that about Pendentive, mine so far flowered only from the rhizome (it has flowered only once, and that too when I bought it, so not much of statistics LOL)

Great information. Thanks guys. There is so much to learn about the many different orchids that make up our collections.

    Cheers,
