    Default Cattleya skinneri "albescens"

I doubt if "albescens" is a proper botanic name , more a decription of the flower colour , a most delicate palest lavender, which slightly darkens as the flowers age. Size can be seen from my fingers - a bit larger than most of the skinneris I have > Could be more flowers on the spike, but then the plant could be bigger - its still a stripling in terms of plant age, maybe this is the second or third flowering from seedling stage.Name: C.skinneri-albescens.-25.4..jpg

The flowers have darkened a little today - most unseasonable weather we are having - 27 deg.C. in April, its a record high for UK in April - and we have had wall-to wall sunshine all the month.
But my rain tanks are getting low - have just 3 left ( 50 gallon tanks) out of the 10... I shall have to get some more joss sticks or something - no rain on the horizon for at least a week, they say...
But flowers are not lasting as long as usual . Not surprising !.

Geoff, I know I teased you about showing your fingerprints a week or two ago, but I was kidding! Now you're wearing gloves?!

    Default Albescens

Albescens is a color variety and as all color varieties in the Cattleya world not accepted.
Albescens is used when the color can be hardly seen on a white background.
The accepted name is Guarianthe skinneri.
