Default Unidentified Violet Vanda: Delphiguy, check this out

Hello everyone! Randy, remember your post "A Few Vandas and Dends" way back on 21st June 2010? Here is my vanda which I mentioned resembled your violet one.

Yes there are differences. Yours have flowers which are spaced farther apart on the spike; mine tends to have tighter clusters. Yours have flatter open flowers.

Some brown coloring is more pronounced on newly opened flowers. This fades as the flowers mature. The tessellation is also pronounced.

Hi Angel, this vanda is beautiful-very nice colour. I like your JVB cross. Your semi-/ quarter teretes look very healthy indeed. Congrats on your very good culture.

Thanks Yew Sung, approval coming from an expert like you means a lot. I'm not so sure about my "very good culture" though, I don't do that much except water them and leave them to sit in the sun, and the occasional fertilizer. I must be doing something right.

This purple vanda is also generous with its offshoots. I bought one plant and in two years' time, I ended with five. The mother plant produced offshoots which quickly matured and produced their own flowers.

Both are beautiful especially the purple one. I think mine is a bit darker and yes mines a bit flatter also.

Thanks Randy. Oh, the yellow-orange vanda was just included in the picture on second thought. LOL.
I think your vanda has more substance to its petals too.

    Default Help with ID

Can anyone help me ID this vanda? I think it resembles a V. hilo hybrid.
