Question Seeking Identification of this orchid

I was told this is a Ascocenda Bunkap Luang when I bought this orchid, but
could find no reference on the internet. Does someone recognise this beauty
which is flowering again after 2 years? Thanks!

This looks like Kagawara Dinesh Gold - also often referred to as Kgw Sandy Gold, but I have been reliably informed that the latter name is not valid and the former name should stand.

Congrats, MIchael, this is a real beauty.

Thank you very much Yew!!! You really are an authority on orchids, bravo! I love the colors of
this Vanda in particular although blooms not quite as large as most Vandas.

With its obvious Renanthera influence it clearly isn't an Ascocenda. Based on a single picture I could find it does appear very similar to Kagawaara Diinesh Gold (note correct spelling with double a and double i). There are other Kagawaara hybrids with similar background and appearance though - Kagawaara Irene Hew is just one possibility - you can never really be absolutely certain with a NoID hybrid. It is gorgeous whatever it is.

Thanks Kirk. It should be Kagawaara Diinesh Gold. According to the rules of nomencalture -ara should be added to Mr Kagawa's name. Should have checked with the International Orchid Register . (Hanging my head in shame).

    Default Kgw Diinesh Gold

I have posted a picture of my Kgw Diinesh Gold aka Sandy Gold before and also a picture of the 'original' Kgw Diinesh Gold (picture taken in 2005) at The Penang International Orchid Show where this plant won The Best Plant of Show.Sorry for the poor quality of the picture as it was taken with a long lens without a tripod.

This particular plant caused quite a sensation. As we can see there are no spots or markings on these blooms. So when other plants bearing this name were exhibited in other shows, there was widespread scepticism as to the ID of these plants and thus a new name Kgw Sandy Gold, which by the way has not been registered as far as I know. The controversy still rages as to whether both types are the same cross.

As Kirk says it is very difficult to be sure with these complex crosses and that is why I usually say ------'It looks like.......'. It's the coward's way out, but then as a sage once remarked, 'It takes a very brave man or a very foolish one to say "I am the father of this child" .'
