Default New Cattelya in Bloom - Blc Pink Diamond x Lucky Strike

This is the second time this cattelya has bloomed for me this year. I bought it as a blooming size plant last year after seeing a picture of one of its parents Blc Pink Diamond that really impressed me. Reminded me so much of the old time floofs. There were two flowers the first time it bloomed but this time there are 3 flowers and the flowers are large 6 ins (15cm) . It has a very nice fragrance. Enjoy.

Yew Sung..lovely indeed! I just handled a Lucky Strike today as well and it did smell pretty good too. Question: I'm trying to get my cattleyas to bloom..I have only 4 plants at the moment and am wondering how often you fertilise? I only fertilise once a week so far though Ive been informed I should fertilise twice. I do have goats manure in fertiliser baskets plunged in the mix though.

All my orchids receive the same foliar fertislising schedule weakly weekly and Osmocote dressing for those whose potting media can hold them and that includes cattelyas. You may just be able to see the the Osmocote (yellow) on the moss at the foot of the shortest pseudo bulb. Btw not all cattelyas are as free flowering as this one. I've discovered that Slc with the cooler growing Sophronitis in the bloodline aren't as free flowering. Yellows are the easiest to bloom in Malaysia. Pinks, lavenders and whites ( except C Hawaiian Wedding Song ) flower less frequently, about 2 times a year.
