    Default Laeliocattleya Irene Finney crosses

Hey all, I have two very interesting plants to share today. It goes on to show the diversity, the variety orchids can produce with so very little difference in the genetic backgrounds. First is Lc. Pink Lady 'Misaki' (Lc. Irene Finney x L. sincorana). Gorgeous blooms taken a beautiful lip from sincorana while maintaining the big floofy blooms of Irene Finney and the scent is heavenly.

The second is Lc. Tokyo Magic ' 6-1' ( Lc. lrene Finney x L. briegeri ). This one looks nothing like Irene Finney, but nonetheless it has contributed a bit to the lip and larger flowers but the flowers are more like briegeri, multiple blooms placed very nicely on a long inflorescence. It started with a scent like a cockroach repellent, but now 4 days after, it has become a strong sweet smell. I think the obnoxious smell is a way to keep insects away when the flower is not ready for pollination.

I have cross pollinated these, both reciprocal crosses. Hopefully I will have a seed pod. I am aiming for artshade floofies with good flower count and good flower placement. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Both are lovely, amey, I'm more inclined towards the 'pink lady'. Very interested to see what comes out of the cross.
    Good luck! Remo

Lc Irene Finney is a great catt. These 2 Irene Finney crosses are beautiful but I wouldn't have guessed that Lc Tokyo Magic had Irene Finney in it. BTW Good luck with the cross.

Thank you everyone. The pollinated flowers on Lc. Tokyo magic have already shrivelled, this is a good sign, but no effect on Pink lady. The flowers of Pink lady have been open for a month now, may be they are already infertile, lets keep fingers crossed.

I also keep my fingers crossed.
    C. briegeri isn't giving always a good flower placement.
In any cross you make with C. briegeri, it will be the dominant component. Actually I'm surprised that you got petals that large on the yellow flower.
