    Default Vanda (species) sanderiana

First flowering of this plant, bought as near FS seedling almost two years ago.
Always nice to see this species, such superb shape. The image shows a bit more colour than my eye sees, and no, I have not had the paint box out in Photoshop.
8 flowers, or to be correct 7 and one bud ( plus an aborted bud ) - good flower count I think, in all of the circumstances. ( first flowering, Uk. etc)
Not large - the earliest flower, now out for a week, is about 3 inches , maybe 8cm. Maybe it will improve on the more mature plant, next time around. Leaf span some 26 inches !

That's very nice. Nice looking blooms. How big was the plant when you did get it as seedling. I've got some seedlings myself, so I'm a bit curious who long i've to wait before I can expect flowers . Thanks so far.

    Congrats on blooming this one!
I've had it for 3 years now and it is growing the first spike in my GH even though it had flowered before. Tricky Vanda species!

The leaf span was about 20 inches ; I grew successively bigger leaves, and now they seem to have settled down to being the same large size. It lost quite a lot of its lower leaves when I put it out in the cold in the spring ( deliberately)- I guess it got a bit colder than I expected !.

Looks like there is nearly as much weight in those flowers as in the rest of the plant. What a neat Vanda you have got there Geoff. AL
