    Default Vanda Pure's Wax

I get very frustrated trying to capture the correct colour for this vanda - indeed for all blue/violet flowers. The colour doesn't even come close to the original - which is more like gentian violet than the grape colour in the photo. Also did not capture the waxy texture of the lateral sepals. I have seen this being labelled V Pure Wax but the correct name should be V Pure's Wax ( it being registered by Pure Orchard ). This is a small plant about 5 inches tall and this is the second time it's bloomed with 8 flowers.

Be it as it may, the ones I see on my computer screen are still beautiful.

It is of course still beautiful Yew, but like Geoff says even really good cameras don't do blues/violets very well. Maybe some day. AL

Guilty- as charged... of course it would help if a certain Thailand exporter wrote more clearly, or better still used printed labels - pencil on a tatty bit of plastic is so 19th century...

You know about Guineas ? I thought I was the last one left !
When I started work in the firm where I spent the last 40 years of my working life, they sent the bill out to clients, once every three months - in guineas.
The old basis in law firms was charge in guineas , the lawyers take the pounds, and the clerks take the shillings ( one shilling was one twentieth of a pound sterling - and one guinea was one and one twentieth pounds).
When I became a partner in the firm, I scrapped all that,. and sent out the bills with the work, and in pounds sterling. The old senior partners wept into their beer saying I would ruin the firm , but I found the clients actually liked it.

You might not be able to get the colour quite right but it still looks very nice. I have the same problem with the reds.

I found that film (egads, what is that?!) does a MUCH better job of capturing colors accurately. Digital cameras are improving but still have their issues.
