    Default Vanda Pranerm Prai

See my comments on my slightly earlier posting ( Ascda Siberian White) in relation to the slight imperfections seen here. This is another plant I have had for 2-3 years and this is the nearest to a good spike I have yet seen - and it looks like a tenflower spike too, when all out. Worth persisting with in my mind ; nice to see something different from Blues, Reds and Purples !

Though of course this is definitely a Vandaceous orchid, it has a spring bulb quality to it as if naturalized to a English garden. I like this bit of informality. AL

The few yellow vandas I have are thrip magnets when in bloom. I'm not sure why?

Fortunately I don't see thrips at all ; they do exist in UK, and once when I lived ( a couple of hundred miles north of where I am now) in a vegetable growing area, thrips and whitefly were a constant menace in the greenhouse where I grew tomatoes and cucumbers, but again, never came into my greenhouse.

We have terrible problems with them, here in Florida. If you don't have rain for five or six days and you had better spray.
I grew tomatoes this spring and summer and where they were located I had the worst white fly invasion. They were all over the Crepe Myrtles...which never have problems?
