Smile Vanda in Spike Progression Pics--First spike ever!

This is one of my first Orchids ever. Technically it's my second, after I killed my first (phal). Anywho, when I bought her she was a bagged baby orchids. I didn't have a clue about Vandas, I just thought all orchids were the same.
Well, it's been two years and a lot of trial and error, but I must have been doing something right because she's growing a spike!!!! Finally!
Here are some pics. I thought it would be cool to show a spike progression series, so here it goes:
Here's a pic of when I first got her (March 2009). Look at the pot/media I had her in! We've come a looong way.

First spike sighting was on 7/23/11 (it was too small to capture on camera). The following pic was taken on 7/26/11:

    The wait is killing me!

Mmursuli I must say that you are an expert vanda grower. In just two years the small plant has progressed into such a big and healthy plant, congratulations on the healthy plant and the awesome first spike, the wait for the blooms is also killing me LOL !

Believe, me it was A LOT of trial and error. Thank you so much for that compliment--i'm blushing, seriously. LOL! I go outside with my camera every morning, so as soon as one of those buds open up, I'll post the pics

Wow. Did it come such a long way in just 2 years. Well I hope my seedlings will bloom that fast. He is looking great Marlene. You did well. Now it's waiting for the blooms.
At least it keeps you busy and healthy by running outside every day.

That is wonderful thing about vandas, from flask to first bloom is relatively a short time for orchids ...of course with good culture and the added bonus that they re-bloom several times in a year.
