Ohhhh, I think I understand now, Gage. I just finished replying to Dorsetman and decided to re-read your suggestion/instruction post. I'm glad I did. Commenting on YOUR comment: It is growing vertically in relation to the basket - in the traditional way, so the fix should not be a complicated one (I hope). I plan to wait until all the blooms have faded away before I undertake the task.
Thank you so much for your time in explaining to me.

But if the plant is growing to the side in relation to the basket, there is no good way to "straighten" it in the basket, so I would just pick a corner and attach a wire. Just think of the basket as a mount, with no up or down, and the basket is just something to attach a wire to. Better to have the plant straight up and down in your greenhouse. Just to clarify, the end result I'm describing will be a Vanda in the normal vertical position, with its basket somewhat sideways with a single wire attached to one corner, and the plant anchored to the wire with panty hose or whatever you wish to use. Make sense?

OH! You're a man! I had no idea you were of the male persuasion! Somehow (goodness only knows HOW) I had it in my head that you were female. It's strange how the mind works, isn't it? (It's even MORE strange how MY mind works

So, it's nice to meet you. I live just south of Cullman...about midways between Cullman and Hanceville.

Thanks for clearing me up.....I can be such a "duh" sometimes.

LOL... no worries. My name isn't exactly an obvious giveaway. Anyhow, it's nice to meet an Alabamian orchid grower here. I have only grown orchids in the last few years since I have lived in Florida. I'm not sure what I will do if and when we ever move to a temperate climate. EEK! Oh well, guess I'll have to build a greenhouse. Well, nice to meet you Vicki. And happy growing!

Hi Vicki - I just went through the whole thread - I had picked it up in the middle I guess - and i see your problems have been sorted out by Gage - which is fine , and saves me scratching my head and wondering how to help.

    Hi again Dorsetman!
Thanks so much for replying! I know you would have been a great help if Gage and the other members had not beaten you to the punch! I guess that's what often happens because of our time differences.....you're mostly sleeping while we're talking! :>)
    Thanks again,
    Vicki
