She will give you any tips she can share. I nearly killed my Vandas while being a vase culture. Not sure I overwatered or underwatered.

I'm just misting them at the moment and they dont seem to be in need of anymore than that at the minute so i will keep to that for now and give them a good dunking every three weeks or so.

I also do mist my Vanda's. Depending on the weather how often per day. Once a week I soak them with fertilizer. Be sure to let them dry between the misting.

Being under HID lights, I think I overwatered them. I poured the water every morning and they took a bath for ~20 min. Now I got the vanda house.

I guess you did overwater them. I only mist them, and once a week I soak and add some fertilizer to the water.

My, did I stir up something ?

There is an old proverb around here , about more than one way to kill a cat ; but another one is about how many lives a cat has...meaning there are as many ways to grow a Vanda, as there are vanda growers , well, if not quite that many , nevertheless a great many.

When I tell someone in Thailand that I use pots - not baskets, and that I put compost ( such as coconut husk chunks or pine bark chunks )in the baskets , they say , "oh no you can't grow vandas like that..."

I do see vandas in glass vases at my local Garden centre ; I don't buty because they rarely have any plant/flower that I actually want, and their prices are OOT , but I do wonder how they get on. Hence my comments.

Welcome to the Vanda Anonymous , Jason! I thought I had weaned myself off vandas after 40 years of growing the darned things but the last 5 years has proven that I could not kick the habit and the cold turkey treatment didn't work. One of these days I'm going to take pictures of this vanda vendor's stall near my place and show why I succumbed to the bad old addiction after a visit there.
