    Default Ascocenda Karen Ono

This is the second time I'm posting a picture of this ascocenda. Normally (the last 5 times) the flowers have wavy edges on the petals and sepals. I remember Roy remarked on this trait. However this time it has decided to go 'straight' or 'strait-laced' or whatever and the petals have gone 'normal'. A lot of weird things have happened to my orchids. Recently my Den Ellen White 'Mutation' lost the green edging, Eplc/Shy( or whatever it is called now)Mae Bly 'Ching Hua Splash' has lost the splashes on one of the lateral petals on 3 of the 4 flowers on the same spike, while the 4th flower has the normal splashes on the lateral petals. Sounds a bit confusing, but I'll post a picture of this Mae Bly when the blooms are fully open. Must have something to do with the freaky weather we're having cos I don't use any hormone-laced fertiliser.

It is lovely. It has large blooms for an Ascocenda.

Great looking orchid blooms, Yew Sung. I like the color and shape. Funny how orchids decide to change over time.

    Cheers,

I remember this one Yew. It looks better on this flowering to me anyway. Your plants flowering without the various things .. interesting .. You'll have to blame global warming, its blamed for everything else. Either that or your feeding them something very strange.

I'd like to blame it on global warming too - at least I'd get a lot of sympathetic looks and sage nods. Why I might even blame it on the Indonesian slash and burn in Borneo and Sumatra or the radiation leaks from Fukushima. Seriously, I use only tried and tested fertiliser that have been on the market for umpteen years, strictly no growth hormones etc. Unless the sheep manure pellets from NZ are from genetically modified sheep or ...LOL

I too think this flowering is more attractive.
