Mine are made of chicken wire (that's what we call it here), and I enclose the bottom so that the husks do not fall out. I then sit this on some concrete blocks, not on the bare ground.
I do not get roots going into the ground. My bins are about 3 ft tall, and I attach my cuttings from half way up the sides. The roots will grow into the husks.
I recently got a couple of these cuttings and have been trying to figure out how to mount them. Could you please show a picture of your basket structure? THanks!

    Hi Monique,
Sorry I took so long to respond. My PC is not working, and I spent the day yesterday and again this morning trying to see how I could send the photo by my iPad. The last thing that happened was that the photo was too big, I must resize. Tried everything, can't find how to do that on iPad. If or when I find a way to do it I will let you know.
    So sorry

Thanks Angela. There's a free photo editing software called IrfanView, that allows you to resize, etc. Whenever you get around to it will be fine.
