    Default Terete Vandas. (Papilionanthe)

These 2 Terete vandas grow prolifically in direct sun all year round. I have 3 large clumps in my garden. they are growing in large (from the ground) wire bins filled with coconut husks.

Ohhhhh, Angela. I love both of them. They remind me of a Ballerina. Thank you for posting.

You amaze me, Angela - our very own terete vandas thriving in your garden half way round the world!! V Amy, arguably the most beautiful of the terete vandas (now Papilionanthe) was registered by John Laycock, one of the Malayan orchid pioneers, in 1956 of a cross of tricuspidata x hookeriana. Not only do you have Amy but tricuspidata as well. I used to have a big clump of Amy and other teretes. I was very fortunate to get back 2 cuttings of Amy from my brother-in-law recently. BTW tricuspidata is from the Malukus in Indonesia and is quite rare in cultivation and of course, hookeriana is our own Malaysian Kinta Weed.

'Syabas'! (' Well done. Congrats ' in our Malay language).

I have a couple terete vanda plants and wish I could let mine root in the ground like yours. I am so hoping my no name terete looks like this when it blooms some day. I was told it had a pink flower last time it bloomed. Yours is just so pretty! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.
