Blc. Magic of Mishima 'Volcano Queen'
This was a big box store purchase a few years ago and it has been a very showy bloomer year after year.
It has a very pleasing scent that is noticeable from several feet away.
The color is hard to capture on camera.
The petals are almost closer to neon violet, and the ruffles on the edges of the lips look like they almost glow in the dark.
The only problem I have is that this particular plant seems to be a scale and mealybug magnet.
All other orchids beside it do not show any signs of infestation.
But for this plant, I have to scrub it and treat it for scale every two to three months.
Maybe this plant's 'sap flavor' is more appealing to the pests than all the other orchids.
There are other orchids that are in bud or partially opened flowers in the greenhouse.
Once they are ready I will post more pictures.
I think that this is a beauty! Even if it attracts the occasional mealybug. Heh heh heh. A beautiful picture of a beautiful orchid!
Well...if I were a bug I'd have to jump on this plant too. Gotta love the big healthy thing!
WowWWWWWWWWW that is one big beauty!!
Oh my - I love it!! What a beauty of a cattleya orchid! Well grown John!
Very beautiful!!! ~
Very Beautiful, as if the plant will tilt because of the large flowers. :-)
