Cattleya intermedia var. marginata has the lip's magenta color on the whole margin of the side lobes while the species type form has the magenta color only at the lip's frontal lobe.
This image shows two beautiful flowers with large segments and an excellent lip.
What a gorgeous cultivar !! The lip and the sidelobes are awesome !
It must be the Cattleya intermedia orchid time of the year!! So many beautiful blooms of either pure Cattleya intermedia or a hybrid of it recently.
Beautiful Bloom, Horst.
Please, could you explain the difference between "marginata" and "orlata" ? This flower looks like my Orlata 'Rio'.
The magenta color follows the whole margin of the side lobes until the side lobes meet sepals and petal.
The magenta color on the side lobes doesn't follow the margin until the end.
Check the 3 images. An image explains it better than words.
Thank you very much. With the photos, the difference is obvious.
