    Default Lavender cattleya NOID.

Does anyone have any idea what this cattleya could be?
It looks similar to C. bowringiana but I am not 100% sure.
I think this is the bloom time for C. bowringiana too.

I got this as a front lead division from a large old plant two years ago.
It is a very fast grower and strong bloomer. This is already its second bloom after I got the plant.

There is no obvious fragrance as far as I can tell.

It is beautiful. I love it. Hope you find a name for it because I would love one.

    Thanks Bill.

I have been reading up on C. bowringiana and the mature pseudobulb is supposed to have really swollen base. (It's so swollen you can't miss it).
This is a trait that easily confirms the plant's identity as this is the only cattleya to have this "onion" base.
Unfortunately, in the two years that I have had this plant I have not seen any obvious swelling at the base. So I think it rules out C. bowringiana.

It could be C. deckeri which is usually confused with C. bowringiana.
I will keep researching. It would be a shame to have such a nice plant with no ID

It's a safe bet this is not a bowringiana. In addation to the swelling at the base of the pseudobulb, the flower form, and the apparent flower size (bowringiana is usually <8 cm).

Not bowringiana. Bowringiana has round edges to the petals without frills. Nice one nonetheless..

I don't know what it is but it's very pretty. Those are great photographs also.

    Thanks everyone.

It is definitely not C. bowringiana based on what I have read about that species.
Well ,1 down... several hundred possibilities to go

Orchids should have been bred to print the parent names on the back of their leaves.

Looks a lot like my Cattleya Ariel (bowringiana x Gaskelliana), could also be Portia or Portia hybrid. Beautiful colours.
