    Default Cattleya eldorado in bud

This one, C.eldorado rosa x self, is my first Cattleya eldorado. A few weeks ago I spotted a bud and was very surprised. I knew that C.eldorado is one of the smaller-growing Cattleya species but did not expect it to bloom yet. The growth with bud is only 7" tall and the largest growth is 8"tall growing in 4" clay pot

Just sharing with you my impatience....

Yes, it's a small species, and not a species easy to grow. Congratulations.
It's a late bloom for this species. Is it a recent import ?

    Thank you Eric!
I purchased the Catt at the last Redland Festival, in May 2011. I know that this species is a hot growing one, so I guess my conditions are perfect for it. For example, I heard that Den.spectabile is difficult to grow, but in my experience it is just opposite.

Your conditions are faboulous, lucky you are.
One of my friends in France has a huge Cattleya collection (about 2.000 plants !!!) and a lot of beautiful Cattleya eldorado. He will give me one soon and his tips are : warm, light but less than Cattleya violacea (another hot species not easy to grow), small pot and moist sphagnum.
