    Default Cattleya purpurata

This seasons first C. purpurata opened and it is a bit unusual.
Last year this plant opened as a semi-alba variety.
This year petals and sepals are showing a delicate blush of pink.

Season begins in Brazil, it's always a pleasure to see them.
And with the "actual" genus name. I'm not alone to use it !

Nice blooms.. I think many other growers are equally reluctant to change the tag to 'cattleya'. It has been known as laelia purpurata for a very long time..

    Very nice, Horst!

I'm among those who still refer to this as Laelia. Until the taxonomists quit changing the names willy nilly to whatever the "flavor of the day" is, I refuse to budge.
