    Cattleya lobata

Natural habitat in Brazil is the state of Rio de Janeiro where it is blooming late spring.
The flower size ranges in between 10.0 cm to 13.0 cm dependent on growing conditions and can vary from clone to clone.
This species need plenty light and good air circulation.
    C. lobata is very close related to C. purpurata. Flower shape, leafs and pseudobulbs of both species are very similar.

Very nice Horst, I recently managed to get the "alba" version. Its said it needs to be growing over the edge of the pot to flower, is that true with your plant ????

I have a big big lobata tipo and blooms are better when the plant grows out of the pot. This plant does not like being repotted.

Thanks Eric for the info. Mine has a long way to go to get outside the pot though.
