    Default Cattleya maxima in bloom

I was planning on repotting this overgrown thing, but when I pulled it off the shelf to work on it yesterday I found a huge bud staring at me. Obviously it isn't doing it's best; I got one bud on a few pbulbs, but only one pbulb that gave me two. When it is done flowering i'll break it's pot and split it into a couple plants with much bigger pots this time. These grow faster than normal cattleya. It only took two or three years for this one to become overgrown.

Connie - what a beautiful bloom - and an amazing plant! Is it my imagination or does it look more a cymbidium than the typical gangly old catt.?

My cattleya have never generally grew straight up like I see others...and I am told that is because they are "reaching" for the sun. Hopefully now that they have a greenhouse and proper growing environment they will grow upwards...we shall see.

It's not sure at all. Some maxima have "almost crawling" pseudobulbs.
Beautiful bloom. Same flowers than mine, with venosa petals.
