Roy, You certainly didn't offend me as I am not very knowledgeable on names and would like to know more. The photos you referenced were Blc. Young Kong "Sun 16", and "Orchis".
The growers web site on mine shows Young Kong "Orchis" (Blc. Green Fantasy x Blc. Tassie Barbero). Does this provide any more info? Please let me know.

Dave, all I have to go on is the amount of websites & forums & google show yours as "Sun 16". The "Orchis" pic I posted came from the "Orchis" catalog. The reason I commented was that I've ordered a flask of "Orchis' based on the catalog pic. I like yours but prefer the other for breeding purposes. I'm not sure what to do now. Might have to e-mail Orchis see if they reply with a pic. "Sun 16" appears to be a popular plant whereas "Orchis" appears scarce, as per my pic. I'll keep you posted. For interest sake, do a google search on your plant name in full.

Much as I like the correct naming of my plants - which is nearly impossible these days with all that's going on in the cattleya world - I would have been delighted with this one as a complete NOID. That green is so beautiful! I have a tiny Ports of Paradise that I hope will someday have that shade of green (no pink, of course, I know).

I just went thru Orchid Wiz, which has a lot of "sun #16" pix and one "orchis" picture. The colors vary a bit from photo to photo, but the "sun #16" show a clear yellow spot on the lip (versus the spot on yours and on Orchis). Plus the upper part of the lip on yours (its "shoulders" if you will), look to me more like the orchis pix. So, I vote yours as more likely to be orchis...but that's just my guess.

    Lovely, anyway.

I spoke to my grower and got this reply "I have both clones of Blc. Young Kong, and Sun #16 has much more yellow in the lip...a solid yellow area not broken up by the rose color around the edge. Also, Sun 16 is a slightly fuller-shaped flower (hence the AM award) than Orchis. I've attached a picture of both (although I believe both are on my website). I too have seen more of the 'Sun #16' variety for sale over the past years than the 'Orchis' variety."

    Young Kong #16

    Young Kong 'Orchis'
The naming of Orchids is a very confusing thing.

I think I'm getting confused also Dave. As I see it, the original pic you posted is Young Kong #16, not "Orchis", correct ??
The second pic above named "Orchis" is what your supplier says, correct ?
Then, unless its a very poor pic, why would Orchis Nursery post a pic of Young Kong "Orchis" with a yellow/green lip with a red stripe down the centre. I would have thought they would know the plant.
At least I think we have the right clonal name on yours now.

Add to all of this confusion the fact that, I think, "Blc.s" are now "Rlc.s", at least according to the RHS. If I'm mistaken, anyone is welcome to jump in and correct it.

Roy, was the picture you posted Orchis or Young Kong Orchis? The grower submitted pictures of Young Kong Sun #16 and Young Kong Orchis and to me they look entirely different than the Orchis you posted. Are these three separate plants?

Dave, the pic I posted is supposed to be Young Kong 'ORCHIS' The pic was from the Orchis Nursery, their own clone. The 2 pics you posted, the 1st is 'Sun #16', I believe is your plant, the 2nd pic is possibly a Young Kong but not one I've seen anywhere. The "Sun" part of the name seems to be omitted at times in various places, not uncommon for this to happen,

What I like is the striking contrast of the hot pink with the lime green...That is spectacular!
