Default Lovely semi-alba catt alliance needs id.

This is one of the prettiest orchids I've had - and it has a fragrance of mixed floral and citrus. Alas, it has not a name. I've seen several like this, and understand it's not likely to get a definitive id., but it would be nice to narrow it down a little - so.... catt experts, please help! I took photos of full view, front, and side, if that helps at all.

The white is snow-white, and the magenta is very deep, tending toward purple, but I just couldn't quite capture it - this is relatively close, though. And the blooms are 6-7" across. It does have a disconcerting growing habit of all three sepals tending to curl back, and thus difficult to see. The side shot makes this the most apparent.

That's one of the best semi-albas I've seen. There are so many different semi-albas around it's going to be very difficult to get an accurate ID. But you're right, you may be able to narrow it down. Good luck.

    A great catt Maura.
I followed Amey's lead and checked that out. This is a dead ringer for the Mendenhall clone of C.Ahmad Sheikhi .I'd be happy to make out that label if it were in my collection.

Thanks Amey and Geoff - I just looked it up on Orchidwiz and wow- an actual id. I am very pleased with this catt, and glad to put a name on it. Cattleya Ahmad Sheiki - has a nice ring to it. Now I shall make out a tag!

    Maura:
No awards for this C. Ahmad Sheikhi . Sepals are a little laid back and flowers look a little "crowded" but both can be fix with grooming. Judging semi-albas now we look for the obvious (color, form) but also flower count and size. I found it weird that this cross was made in 1973 but has no awards! It is a lovely bloom in such a small plant.

Nice color contrast on that floof between the pristine white petals and the lip.
