    Default Cattleya nobilior

    Cattleya nobilior var. amaliae

Compact plant with very attractive flowers.
Easy to grow if given the the basic necessities.
7 to 8 month resting period after the pseudo bulb is fully developed. Relatively high air humidity, no fertilizer and no watering during this resting period. Don't panic when the pseudobulbs shrivel. After the resting period the plant will grow a inflorescence from the base of the pseudobulb.
Grows better when mounted. Doesn't like wet roots.

Beautiful flowers but I think I'd be a nervous wreck withholding water for 8 months!

Why not? I think Winter rest is quite simple for outdoor growing in FL.
