This plant is usually sold under the name Hetti Jacobs ( sorry - I am a nitpicker ! ) rather than Heidi ; I looked up Orchidwiz, and they say it was awarded to a well known Florida nursery under the name Heiti Jacobs.
All the same girl, I'm sure.
Heidi is a popular middle-european ( e.g. German, also scandinavian I think ) girls name. Hetti is a diminutive of a girls name popular in England a hundred years ago. Heiti - never heard of it.
    Take your pick !

She's a lovely girl, whatever she is called ; a pity that the flower substance is not too good, so that the flowers go over fairly soon - as compared to many Cattleya hybrids. But that's species for you. Once again, you pay your money and you take your choice ; substance, lasting quality toughness of the hybrids - or the natural charm , gracefulness and delicacy of the species . Maybe I have room for both in my collection.

ps Looking further down the list, I see that the FCC was given to one Karl Robert Jacobs , as "Heiti Jacobs" - sounds like her dad, and he ought to know !

You know Geoff; it does say Heiti Jacobs on the tag. I thought it might have been misspelled. Thanks for the clarification! I'm kind of honored that you commented on my Cattleya, I always look forward to what you post and learn a lot from what you have to say.

That is awesome...I still recall many years later my first earned bloom. It is a great feeling. Looking back, I think mine bloomed more in spite of me than not. Yours, however, looks very well-grown.
