Default Dendrobium Frosty Dawn x Dendrobium suzuki

I bought this dendrobium of the Formosae group with buds a month ago because I was looking for a plant with a different colouring than the predominantly white. I am not disappointed as the colour is creamy yellow (more cream than yellow) and has a most delightful red lip. There is some controversy regarding Den suzuki as legitimate species on its own or just a larger variant of Den cruentum . It has not been observed in the wild but the named specimen was found among a shipment of wild p.lants .

I agree Gabriela - the colour of Green Lantern is whiter with the faint green lines. I had Green Lanern too but it died a few months ago.

As Paphioboy mentioned in another post ,the Formosae dendrobiums are also called the Nigrohirsute dendrobiums on account of the black hairs on the pseudobulbs.

I would have guessed Dendrobium Green Lantern at first glance when looking at this orchid and its striking red/orange colored lip. Beautiful hybrid regardless of names.

    cheers,
