I am known - in my walking club, to pick up interesting branches with moss on them, when we are in the forest , and by now everyone knows why. So one of the other walkers, being helpful, brought me a branch to use ... an oak log about 5 or 6 inches diameter, and about four feet long. True, its nicely mossed, but I can hardly lift it - it must weigh 0 or 40 Kg ( 70+ pounds) ! I tried to saw a piece off, but it needs real foresters kit to deal with good solid English oak, not the sort of D-I-Y kit I have , so at present in adorns my garden path, and I scratch my head over what to do with it.
