    Cool Laelia tenebrosa

I am very pleased with this plant. I bought it a year ago in bud. It has rebloomed with seven flowers this year. Woo Hoo.... And unless i'm mistaken the flowers are darker than last year.

Lovely! Do you have any advice for growing it? I've had mine a couple years but can't get it to bloom. The leaves are light green, so I think it's getting enough light. It looks like yours gets outside air? Maybe mine needs cooler nights? Anyway, well grown!

I give mine average cattleya light, keep it a little dryer than normal cattleya (it's potted in charcoal). My plants go into a greenhouse in the winter and out onto the back porch as soon as the temps at night stay over 55. I think since they come from Brazil, maybe they just like it a little hotter than some cattleya. Mine bloomed only after daytime temps began to hit the 90's here....and last year when I brought it home I seem to recall using a paper towel in the car on the way home to wipe away sweat due to the heat and humidity. lol My shopping outtings to nurseries can be a very hot and sweaty pursuit at times down here.

It is sumptuous and divine beyond words. I am envious, but only in the nicest possible way.

By the way, there's a nice person with a lonely L. purpurata on another thread...
