Cool Blc. Ann Cleo 'Stars & Stripes'

I lost two buds to the heat, otherwise this display would have had two more flowers. It had the wrong tag so when these opened I was a little suprised and had to look back through my purchases to find what this was. And even when I found the proper name I was a little suprised at how these flowers look, they have more pink in the petals than normal. The scent is easy to love...it has the entire back porch smelling amazing!

Love this one. Yours is lovely. Mine just finished blooming. Was a bit disappointed that the blooms were so short lived. Lasted just about two weeks. I also loved the scent. Find it interesting how different the coloration is between our plants and others I have seen online. Thanks for sharing.

beautiful bloom, love the dark purple lip. I have a question, see how the leave looks in your picture- right hand top corner, do you think that is from over watering, under watering or too much sun? Because I one catt that has a leave looking exactly like that. Do you know what it is from or how to fix it?

Beautiful little cattleya! I see you have it in a basket. I think compact cattleyas are perfect for baskets. Good growing.

I was having trouble with this plant in a regular pot, so when I repotted it into the new basket I had to remove roots all the way to the pbulb. Those leaves will eventually yellow and drop off. Your plant should be checked for bad roots and if they are rotted you should do a fungal soak with a drop or two rooting hormone. The trick will be keeping humidity up without actually overwatering so the new growth can grow normally. I was so relieved the new growth on my Stars & Stripes did so well actually. But i'm doing foliar and antifungal sprays every week with the cattleya and plants that previously were looking like that bad leaf are growing new sections that look much healthier. I was having a ton of trouble previously with bacteria and fungus and spraying weekly in the summertime is helping me grow nice big healthy new leaves on vanda and get beautiful leaves and pbulbs on cattleya. I got help from another member on here and her advice has really turned my bad plants around. I now recommend like she, that spraying be done weekly because it really does work and it does not hurt the plants or flowers at all.
