That looks like two good divisions. I hope they do well and come back strong. That plant has such dramatic veining on the lip -- it's really a winner. I had a dowiana var. rosita when I first started in orchids, had no idea what I was doing and it rotted, and I haven't found one since that I could afford. It's a beautiful, beautiful species.

    Thank you Victoria!
You are right, you should be very careful about this species. They don't like stresses and have a hard time to recover, otherwise dowianas grow & bloom just like other Catts.
The divisions do look fine and I hope they have a chance, but you can never be sure about this pseudobulb rot. Nasty thing!
Anyway, it was my first dowiana to bloom. I have another dowiana in bud, this one if from Costa Rica. It should bloom in a few days. Then I'lll start a new thread.

Good you removed the rotted central bulb. I would also just out these divisions bare root in a shady dry spot and let the cut dry and heal before potting it up and allowing moisture anywhere near.

Dear friends, thanks again for all your nice words. Amey, I still did not pot the divisions. Andrew, thank you very much! I will post more pictures of another dowiana (Costa Rica origin) which is blooming now. I hope you will like it, too.

These are absolutely beautiful! I've wanted a downiana for some time, but lately I've thought otherwise because I've read about how picky they can be. It's also frustrating that the flowers only last about a week...is that true? It's too bad Catt. flowers don't last nearly as long as other orchids. Your pictures make it very, very tempting...
