Default Lc. purpurata var. flammea '#6' X Lc. purpurata var. flammea '#7'

This is the first time this has bloomed for me. I purchased it last summer. The spike with two blooms opened last Sunday. The three bloom spike opened this morning ( a week later). Has a very lite scent. I am really pleased with the color and form of the flowers. The plant is a very robust grower.

    Default Cattleya purpurata var. flamea

    Bill,
Your plant is a very nice C. purpurata var. flamea with an atropurpurea lip.

A C. pupurata is flamea when the petals have an intense color getting stronger toward the edges.

The var. atropurpurea or simply "atro" is applied when the tube has an intense color throughout the whole outside.

The flamea variety is overriding the "atro" variety.

    Congratulation! Good growing.
