I have had the privilege of seeing this in the wild ; growing very opportunistically on every available surface in an area of forest starting to regenerate after a serious fire. It grew epiphytically on new growth trees, also on burnt dead trees ; I found some on boulders - lithophytically, and more growing on the gorund terrestrially. I even found one plant growing as an epiphyte on an epiphyte ( a stags head fern). It is a delightful little thing with this strange filly lip.
This plant was imported growing on softish tree fern ; I could not make it grow, whatever I did, and I almost gave up as it shrunk down to a single growth and no flowers for years. Then as a last chance, I planted the whole thing in a pot, with Perlite, topped off with grit, and hung it up anong the Vandas and Renantheras, so that it got sprayed often. Lo and behold it is now back to 4 new growths and a lot of flowers.
    A happy ending .
