Seems like a peloric cattleya of some kind. The lip is unusual for a cattleya.

    cheers,

Pretty color, but I agree with Bruce that the lip looks peloric - not necessarily unattractive, but a clue that the genes in this Catt. somehow went awry. Sometimes, the tendency to produce peloric clones is a key to which parents are involved, but I can't say that I'd know where to begin - any clue from the seller?

Ditto to Bruce. The colouration however is beautiful. Some people do not like Peloric Orchids, I have afew Peloric Phals and I quite enjoy their "difference".
Care your plant you'll come to love it.

Thanks! I always learn so much from all of you! Maura, there's no way to get a clue from the seller, I got it at a big box store.

Figures - did you know that sometimes those big box stores actually take the tags OUT? I tracked down the store buyer once and their reasoning is that customers hardly understand that orchids come in different kinds - not only different colors - and the typical buyer is proud if they can id a phal!
