Default Rhynchovanda (V. coerulea x Rhv. Clair Florist)

I've got two of these in bloom, a third in bud. All from the same batch.

All have a strong lilac scent from morning until midafternoon. Unfortunately I didn't get around to taking a pic of them until they had become a little 'weathered'.

As you can see, the first has better color and the second better form, but neither are awardable. Both are very nice, however.

Love it...especially the first with the darker colored purple lip.

Me too - plus lilac fragrance! Too bad all I have to do is look at vandaceous orchids and they die

    So very pretty,
    I like them both, too.
It's interesting to see the variation in the same cross,
so please post again when the third comes into bloom.

Gorgeous! Lips on the first pic look blue instead of purple~are they blue? Or just the cam outcome?

Colors on both photos are accurate. I was pretty stunned by the lip color on the first one when it opened.

The third one is coming along well, and has deep blue tips on the buds. The spike is developing as a Rnch spike (as did the first one above) rather than as a V. spike (as did the second one above), so I'm hoping for a similarly deep colored lip. Hopefully with less curling and windowing, but I'll take what I can get . . .

At any rate, I'll post the third here when it opens.

Sue, the plant looks really healthy too. I really like seeing the differences in the flowers of plants that all come from the same batch. Did you grow these out from seedlings? Damn good job.

Third one ('gamma') is now blooming. It's my favorite of the three.

Very fragrant, 9 blooms on the spike, good color, minimal rippling, minimal cupping, nice arrangement/tiling, but flower width is 4.3cm, as opposed to 5.5cm for 'alpha' and 5.0cm for 'beta'.

It's really nice, but I think I like the first one the best, because of the greater contrast of the lip.
