Great colors. Very unusual. That's a good question about the sepals. I've had that happen on some of my orchids and I've always wondered what caused it.

    Neat color combo.

Is this the first time it has bloomed that way? If not then I would assume it is just genetics. If it has not bloomed like this in the past then a deficiency may indeed be the issue.

the lip on those blooms is fantastic, pure velvet. I've noticed some curl at times on a few of my catts and always thought it was heat or humidity doing it,beautiful blooms

Beautiful colors. I really like it. I have also had curling occur unexpectedly and like others thought it was weather related.

I don't remember this plant in bloom before ( can't find the flower in my flower catalogue) so I can't say that it has done this before.
@ Stateless ( I would love to call you by your name) & Bill. The weather might have something to do with it, we have been having some scorching hot days and then 2 dark and rainy days. this happened just as the buds had burst.

Flowering a Catt' the same or better than it did the previous time is by pure luck. Temperature, culture, root condition, light can all play a role. Very few, if any Catt' will give you consistant flowers every flowering. In many cases, the curling is part & parcel of Catt' flowers, even the flat, showbench awarded Catt's you will rarely see like that again. Its a 'one off'.
As a 'rule of thumb', cool weather flowered Catt's will have heavier substance & hold themselves better whereas warm weather flowerers will be soft in substance an be less likely to stay flat. This is mainly for the standard size catt's, clusters, compact & mini catt's are a whole new ball game, they can vary greatly as the compact & mini's can flower multiple times a year, again, they will vary in flower quality as per the once or twice a year floweres. To assist in getting better substance in a flower, except for the naturally floppy types, regular high potassium fertilising at the start of a new growth appearing till 1/2 matured, will help.

A lot of color in these blooms Angela. Some good answers to your question also. I've learned something I had no idea of before. AL
