    Default Renanthera philippinensis

Here is my Renanthera philippinensis, which is becoming my favourite renanthera. Blooms from summer to fall regularly. Its second spike of the season. A little less flowers and branching than previous summer spike. The color is just stunning in the sunlight. Less picky in culture than my Re. citrina or imschootiana.

Very useful to know that about culture relative to citrina ant imsch... I have been bitten by Renantheras for a while now. And this one is what it's all about. Great success and well done! So there may be hope for me in London UK if it is possible to do Rens in Canada! Best wishes.

Re. imschootiana come from mid to high elevations of China,India & Myanmar with distint moonsoon season. Its very picky about winter rest and temperature, same goes for citrina. Def not very robust and they wouldn't bloom nicely without cooler dryer rest.

Where philippinensis is a true lowland specie and bloom several times a year, if you can keep intermediate temp or higher year round. The leaf are short and fat (like Trichoglottis) and the growth is alot more neater and tigher than coccinea or stonei. And it doesn't scramble.

In clay pot, no medium other than just a little bit of spanish moss/coconut fiber to keep a little more humidity during spring and summer. I remove them during winter. Half of the roots are outside the pot, so i just mist them.
