Have to agree with you, Ed, no idea where they came up with the name on that first one. Very nice closeup on that one, btw. Love the lip on Green Apples as well.

thank everyone for you comments, Green Apples has just been a great plant, always in bloom and the only den thrips don't mess with I wonder if it's because of the bloom color? sounds silly but I can't think of another reason why this one blooms great and the rest of my dens are usually thrip buffet.

[QUOTE=stateless;336530]not quite sure how they named this one, but I like it's subtle color, I would have called it Den Creamsicle

I'm not surprised at the name if it originates from Thailand. I have 2 Rhy gigantea "Orange" and they're very, very light peach colour. I'm told that if I wanted an orange coloured gigantea then I would have to get the var 'Carrot'.

It could easily been mislabeled, it was purchased as a deal of 7 budded dens.

I got it from a hawiian nursery so I guess they could get from Thailand. The Rhy giganea 'orange' i agree with, peach not orange, have never heard of 'Carrot' that sounds nice

Another clone of my Rhy gigantea 'Orange' has just bloomed this morning. This has got to be the darkest of the so-called 'orange' giganteas I've seen (in real life, not pictures). This plant was in very poor condition when I got it as it was badly dehydrated without any healthy roots but in the last month or so, 2 healthy roots have appeared and this could be due to the current rainy season. After this flowering it's going onto a new mount. It is currently still tied to the original mount from the vendor's as I was afraid to disturb it seeing the sorry state it was in.
