    I agree it was an odd cross, but the outcome is a small colorful frequent bloomer, this is the 4th time this year, still wish it had the leopard spots.

    While there is now way to be certain without talking to the hybridizer, I would imagine that s/he may have been trying for larger, red flowers with spotting.

    Might well be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that there seems to be some genetic block where they've been unable to acheive spotting on round form catts? I would tend to wonder also if the breeder was trying to get the round broughtonia form with spots. It's beautiful nonetheless, love the yellow on teh red.
