Vanda Miss Joaquim x Nefinetia falcata.
An interesting result - not quite what I would have expected. The terete foliage ( from the Vanda) is quite robust - thicker "leaves" than Miss J , and perhaps less colorful flowers than I expected.
This is a plant recently purchased, first flowering for me. Two flowers and perhaps a few more buds to come . But Miss Joaquim only has four flowers to a stem, and the Neofinetia has more, but still not a very large number.
But quite an interesting thing for all that.
GBTW that is a four inch basket.

I love the color myself. Is it somewhat smaller than the normal terete? I'm curious as to how large your plant is. I'd buy one! lol

Great macro shot, Geoff - almost makes the bloom in focus look like Limoges!

The longest leaf is about 8 inches, and as thick as a pencil - much bigger than the Miss Joaquims I have seen. But then when she was first shown to the RHS,as a plant bought from the lady herself, and imported to England by, I think Sir Trevor Lawrence ( of Cattleya lawrenciana fame) the plant was five feet high with I think two sprays of 4 flowers. I have not seen plants that big here - I have seen it grown in the ground as a terrestrial, and used as a hedge, at Singapore Botanical Gardens - and they were 5 feet high , but that was so long ago, that I have forgotten how big the leaves were.

My plant ( of this Vfta.)has flowers approaching 2 inches btw.

    It's lovely. Great flower, too. I'm thinking about a five-foot orchid. . . wow!

I agree -- a very interesting hybrid. Did it inherit the neo's fragrance?
