Neat seeing the plant ancestry pictorially -- thanks for including that, Geoff! The anceps' form appears very dominant. I'm rather surprised it has so much red -- I remember a hybridizer telling me that, with catts, lavender is dominant.

That's lovely Geoff. Your close up pic captures the velvety texture quite beautifully.

The color truly is extraordinary, and the plant is obviously very well grown. Thanks for posting. It appears the red, lavendar and yellow colors from its ancestors are all contributing to this marvelous blend.

A small clarification though... Laelia anceps is one of the Laelias that did not change to Cattleya, so this is still Lc. Hsin Buu Lady.

I just received mine, but probably won't bloom for another year. Mine is stick mounted, so any tips are appreciated. Love the color!

Dorsetman, thank you for introducing me to Ms. Hsin Buu Lady. Mine finally arrived in the mail today; got it from a small orchid nursery that seemed very nice. It has about sixteen pseudobulbls and was potted in sphagnum moss; yuck. My only concern is that it was obviously in a very humid cimate because the leaves have algae-moss-stuff on them. Just repotted and dipped/sprayed with Phayson 20; hope that gets rid of the stuff on the leaves.

The discussion regarding the color of the blooms is what really caught my attention; next was everyone saying how they had/have or going to get one.

    Thank you orchidworks forum!

Beautiful! Mine just bloomed as well - its first blooming, actually. Must be their time of year? (even if they're "free flowering"!) Yours has a slightly different shape than mine...yours is a bit more star-shaped (which I prefer).

Lovely Cattleya, so velvety. I'm in the continuous quest to find a large-flowering and fragrant cattleya. Perhaps, I could do with some advice as well
