    Default Cattleya ?

This is a 1st flowering of what is thought to be a mericlone. The name on the label I've withheld at this point as I would like imput from members as to their thoughts. The flower is slightly distorted & the color is darker than pic presents. I cannot see any color/s in the lip throat. It is a compact plant.

The fact that the lip developed behind the petals makes it hard to know the real shape of the flower. No idea what it might be.

It looks a little like my Hawkinsara Red Stella 'Carnula'.

It appears to have a Ctna. form similar to Ctna. Jamaican Red. I have noticed that it is not uncommon for lips to form behind the petals either on one or both sides when growing Cattleytonias and similar orchids. It has impressive color.

This plant is a trilabella variety(petals change in to neo-lips).

It can't be Hawkinsara Red Stella although this plant is also a trilabella variety. The leaves are totally different.
The fact that the lip is placed behind the neo-lips (petals) can change next time this plant blooms.

I believe it is a Cattleya hybrid. I have no idea which one it could be.

That 2 plants as dissimilar in ancestry as Red Stella and Elaine Taylor are suggested is a good reminder that you can't identify a Catt hybrid from a picture, especially when it isn't even a typical flower. They are both red Catts (so C. coccinea ancestry) and they both have more than 10% C. dowiana, and a few other ancestors in common at lower percentages. Like hundreds of other hybrids. The lack of contrasting color in the lip/throat is because it is peloric with the lip resembling the petals. This one isn't even a fun guessing game.

I adjusted the lip out to where it should be this morning & re took the pic. The flower is 90mm across.

(The lack of contrasting color in the lip/throat is because it is peloric with the lip resembling the petals.) Not sure what is meant here at all. The flower was/is deformed, "nothing to do with peloric".
